There is no better place to start then at the beginning! Pregnancy is one of the most sacred and beautiful times of a women's life.
Maternity sessions usually takes place in my studio, or your home, but can be outdoors if preferred. I have three different options for my mothers-to-be, depending on your comfort level:
1. Traditional
2. Fabric Wraps
3. Nudes
Newborn sessions are for infants under 4 weeks of age. I prefer photographing the newborn session when your baby is two weeks old or less because this is when the true newborn characteristics are captured. I suggest scheduling your session as soon as possible to ensure an open slot. These sessions I prefer to shoot in your home, but am open to any location you prefer.
I photograph all my newborns bare skinned. Mom and Dad should be prepared to be involved in the photo shoot. Wear a long sleeve black shirt, dark pants or jeans, and don't forget an extra change of clothing!! (there is a 90% chance we are going to get wet or worse!!!)
For the baby: I suggest a favorite blanket or two, a matching hat, booties, white onsie, and a pacifer. After baby's bare skinned shots, we will incorporate the things that are special to you and if baby allows it, I also have some items in my collection you can choose from (cocoons, hats, booties, ect). As a mother of 2, I understand that newborns aren't on a schedule yet. I allow all sessions time to be flexible for feedings, diaper changes, pampering, etc.. And I will do whatever I can to make mom, dad, and baby comfortable during your session.
Baby's First Year is where we will try to capture those milestones at three, six, nine, and twelve months.
Session milestones:
Three months: baby's holding head up, pushing up on arms, smiling
Six months: baby's sitting up, giggling, very expressive
Nine months: baby's standing with support, crawling
Twelve months: baby's birthday, standing on own, walking
